Lisa’s story

Yoga is the gift that continues to enrich my life. I went along with a friend to a class to try something new and it was love at first asana. Then I discovered pranayama, mantra and meditation, and yoga philosophy. It opened up a whole new way of experiencing my life and this world to me.

I have been fortunate to study with master yoga teachers over an extended period of time. This has enabled me to learn and experience the teachings of yoga in ways that have steadily changed me and my life for the better. I am a long term student of the Himalayan Institute with Pandit Rajmani Tigunait and Rolf Sovik, American Viniyoga Yoga with Gary Kraftsow, and Para Yoga with Yogarupa Rod Stryker. I studied deeply with them, and broadly with teachers of many other schools and traditions to realise for myself the scope and potential of this way of experiencing, understanding, and growing through yoga practice and philosophy.

My goal is to teach the people in the room – to offer what might help those who are present on the day. My primary influences are Tantric Hatha Yoga (the subtle energy version, not the sexual version) and Viniyoga. My goal is move and rest the entire body in ways that counterpose our usual ways of using it in alignment with the breath, while cultivating inner listening to our own felt sense. I incorportate elements of familiarity and novelty, strength and flexibility, effort and ease to create a holistic experience of the embodied self in movement and stillness.

I look forward to meeting some of you and practicing together,
