Stephanie’s yoga story

As a teenager, I was already interested in yoga. At home, I practised different yoga postures that I had found in a book. I noticed that yoga helped me to relax and focus on the here and now. Later, when I was older, I realised that yoga helps me to strengthen the connection with myself. And this is for me the most important reason to practise yoga; it is a form of self-development in which you get to know yourself and develop a stronger connection with yourself.

The reason I started teaching is simple: I think it is great fun and beautiful to move together with others. I also like to see how others develop and I like to help people with that.

My classes are peaceful and energetic at the same time; I sometimes seek out challenging postures, but the trick is to find peace in them. In other words, it is not about the goal in itself, but about the road towards it. I think it is important to listen to your own body. It is a beautiful skill to sincerely listen to it or to feel it and act accordingly. Many people, and I myself too often, listen to the body but do not act upon it. We impose all sorts of things on ourselves at the expense of our own well-being because we do not act on the signals our body sends us. I am convinced that our body has so much wisdom about what is good and right for us, and I try to pass this on in my lessons.
